The Annual Paralegal Awards
This site relates to the Institute’s annual Paralegal Awards, and in particular the results of the 2006 Paralegal Awards, and the forthcoming 2007 Awards.

The Awards are open to all paralegals, regardless of sector, occupation or job title.
‘Paralegal’ is the professional term used to describe non-lawyers who do legal work. Paralegals work in most sectors, industries and professions. A few examples out of the many hundreds of occupations that require paralegal input are:

|
One of the things that the above occupations all have in common is that they involve applying, administering, interpreting, monitoring, enforcing or advising on the law.
For many the legal element comprises only a small, but important, part of their employment duties.
Regardless of job title and area of practice, all paralegals are qualified through education, training and/or work experience to perform substantive legal work that requires knowledge of the legal system and legal concepts. Frequently, but not always, paralegals do work that might otherwise be performed by a solicitor or barrister.
